This is one of the many websites I stumbled upon when first googling how to write a children’s picture book. There is basic information on board books and picture books and the word count they usually have in them. It discusses having a problem to solve and how to build your character. There are books mentioned in there that are a great start. I have a slew of picture books listed on my Pinterest account. Figure out which ones you like and don’t like, and make note of what makes the picture book come together, whether it’s the rule of threes, using show, don’t tell, or having a problem the main character must solve on their own.
