What I love about this book are the illustrations. Little red chicken wants to hear a bedtime story, and his papa starts to read off the bedtime storybook. The illustrations show a book within a book of different fairy tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. The visuals pull you deep into the story that even I felt interrupted! Out of all the stories his papa tries to read, the little red chicken interrupts by finishing the ending a different way, and quickly at that! Papa never finishes these stories and tells little red chicken to read him a bedtime story instead. When little red chicken begins to read, he gets interrupted by his papa’s snoring. This book is really a fun way to help children understand the concept of interruptions, especially when they are known to do exactly that. Interruptions come naturally to children because they very much live in the present so their needs and wants need to be met right away.
