Shake the Tree was a fun read and gave more than what I anticipated. A mouse sees a nut in a tree and shakes it to get it to fall. What falls instead is a fox much bigger than him. The fox now wants to eat the mouse, and the mouse runs up the tree. The fox shakes the tree, and a bigger animal falls and is now at risk of being eaten. I love how the illustrations show the different levels of strength the animals have when shaking the tree. More and more leaves fall as the animals get bigger. This is a creative way to introduce different animals. It’s also very engaging as animals keep falling from the tree and not the nut. The nut maintains its spot till the very end, and although all the animals that have run up the tree are safe, they will eventually have to come down as well as the nut.
