I came across this book watching read-aloud picture books on YouTube. It starts with two witches who plan to make a stew for dinner and decide to invite their friends. One of the witches makes a list and posts it on a nearby tree. One of the friends, Skeleton, sees this list and mistakes it for a menu and thinks the witches want to eat them for dinner! Skeleton runs to the other guests, Ghost and Ghoul, to warn them that they could be the night’s meal. It all gets sorted out in the end, of course. I really enjoyed reading this, and I think all children would enjoy it as well. There are many books that have a fun play on words component, and I think this is one of the best ones. It’s fun, silly, and perfect for anyone who loves Halloween!
